UN Special Envoy Angelina Jolie speaks at refugee camp
Actress and United Nations envoy Angelina Jolie called on the international community to do more for people in Iraq and Syria, during a visit to a refugee camp in northern Iraq on Sunday.

Jolie visited people at the Khanke internally displaced people (IDP) camp near Dohuk, and said the UN is "extremely concerned" at the slow pace of humanitarian assistance this year.

"UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) received only half of the funding it needed in 2014 for programs in Iraq and Syria," said Jolie, a Special Envoy for UNHCR. Jolie also said she had met mothers at the camp whose children have been kidnapped by the Islamic State group.

"As a parent I cannot imagine a greater horror, and they are overwhelmed by the thoughts of what is happening to their children right now with the knowledge that there is abuse, slave labor and sexual slavery."
