Barca, Madrid top paid teams in world sports
Seven European football clubs are among the top 10 best-paid teams in world sports, with Barcelona eclipsed this season by Real Madrid despite spending more on player salaries than its fierce rival.               

The Spanish sides occupy the top two spots in a global survey of salaries, with the average weekly pay packet for Barca players $166,934 compared with $149,935 at Spanish leader Madrid.               
The study, produced by the specialist website Sporting Intelligence for ESPN, put only three American sports teams in the top 10, compared with five last year.               

The NBA's Los Angeles Lakers are No. 5 below Barcelona, Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea followed by baseball's New York Yankees at No. 6 and the Philadelphia Phillies at No. 9.
