Bomb explodes near an Islamic seminary in Pakistan
A remote-controlled bomb exploded near an Islamic seminary in Pakistan's restive south-western city of Quetta on Thursday, killing at least eight people and     wounding over a dozen others, local media reported.

Local media added that at least three children were among the dead.

The bomb was strapped to a bicycle and hidden under a garland, and detonated outside the Islamic seminary as a degree ceremony for students was being held inside, media reported, citing police officials.

Rescue efforts were underway as security officials warned people to stay away from the blast site.No-one had claimed responsibility for the attack.

Baluch militants have been waging a low-level insurgency for decades for more autonomy and control over the natural resources of their impoverished region.
Islamist militants linked to al Qaeda and Taliban are also active in the strategic region that borders Afghanistan and Iran.
