57 members representing a number of political parties and independents withdrew in protest at the lack of "real consensus”, from the joint session of both the house of parliament and the constituent assembly which had assembled to draft a new Egyptian constitution," according to a parliamentary source.

House Speaker, Saad Katatni said on Tuesday, that the rate of voting participation reached 76%, with 516 deputies (out of 678 deputies entitled to vote) in the selection of a hundred  members for the constituent assembly, in addition to the 50-member on reserve out of 1300 candidates.
