Palestinian Authority calls for elections

A senior Palestinian official announced that the Palestinian Authority decided to hold local elections in the West Bank and Gaza Strip next October, the first since 2006.

The official, who spoke under anonymity, told AFP that the Palestinian authority, which convened on Tuesday, had decided to hold local, municipal and rural elections on October 20th in the Palestinian territories.
