Cameron and Sarkozy in Libya

British Prime Minister David Cameron has arrived on a visit to Libya where he and French President Nicolas Sarkozy will meet the country's new leaders, a spokeswoman for Cameron said on Thursday.

Sarkozy and Cameron, who spearheaded the West's military intervention to back rebel forces whose interim council is now the ruling power in Libya, are the first foreign leaders to visit since the toppling of Muammar Gaddafi.

Cameron was expected to announce a package of assistance to support Libya's transition after the end of Muammar Gaddafi's 42-year-rule.
