France to boycott UN racism conference anniversary

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday it will boycott a United Nations meeting in New York this month marking the 10th anniversary of Durban’s World Conference on Racism. 

“France reiterates its commitment to the universality of Human Rights and its determination to combat racism”, the ministry said in a statement, adding that it is determined to continue exerting the collective efforts that were launched by the U.N. and other international bodies to effectively fight against all forms of discrimination, anti-Semitism, xenophobia and apartheid.
