Salehi concerned over NATO radar in Turkey

Commenting on the stationing of radar system in Turkey, ISNA Iranian news agency quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi Saturday as saying that "The system has concerned the Islamic Republic of Iran and neighboring states. We do not regard deployment of the radar system necessary in current regional circumstances. We are considering the issue and our friends in Turkey should have enough justification for it.”

On September 2, Ankara announced its decision to host the early-warning radar as a contribution to NATO's missile defense system.

In response to the Iranian statement, Ankara said that the system does not target any state in particular.
