Israel: an attack against Iran involves destroying parts of Lebanon and Gaza

Former head of Israeli intelligence service Mossad, Danny Yatom warned of the prospects of Hezbollah and Hamas launching missile attacks should Israel instigate an attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The former head of the Mossad said in an interview with Israel Radio that Israel may be forced to destroy parts of Lebanon and Gaza, if Hezbollah and Hamas launch rockets into the country in response to an Israeli attack on Iran. He also warned of Iran’s retaliation.

While acknowledging that Iran has a few hundred missiles with a range that can reach Israel, Yatom advised that the result would be catastrophic should these missiles be spearheaded with nuclear bombs. “The main concern is the tens of thousands of missiles in the arsenals of the Hezbollah and Hamas in Lebanon and Gaza” he stressed. “Israel learned the lesson of the Second Lebanon War in 2006, when Hezbollah fired hundreds of rockets into the north of Israel”, Yatom concluded.
