Ramadan ends as Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr around the world

Hundreds of thousands of Muslims performed Eid al-Fitr prayers in Mecca’s Holy Mosque in Saudi Arabia on Sunday in the presence of King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.        

The same scene can be seen in the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem on Sunday where Palestinians took part in morning prayers for the Eid al-Fitr holiday that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.      

In the West Bank city of Ramallah, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas laid a wreath on the grave of the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.     

Abbas expressed his hope to the Palestinian people that by next year there will be a Palestinian independent state with "Jerusalem as its capital."        

In Egypt, President Mohammad Morsi performed the Eid’s paryers at Amr ibn Al.As Mosque in Cairo where thousands of Egyptians gathered in after sunrise at mosques and in streets in a cheerful atmosphere.      

In Eastern Asia, Muslims gathered in Malaysia’s streets, Indonesia’s Mosques and across the Philippines to perform prayers and share the joy.
