Secret Palestinian-Israeli meeting ahead of UN bid

Israeli diplomatic sources said the Defense Minister Ehud Barak met with PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad in New York on Sunday in an effort to prevent the Palestinian Authority from presenting its bid requesting membership for a Palestinian state in the United Nations this week.

The meeting came as Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday headed to New York presiding over a large delegation of Palestinian officials and diplomats.
