Washington pressures Somalia to hold elections on Monday
The United States has reportedly issued a warning against Somalia to hold elections on Monday for its house speaker, the final step in the transition process sponsored by the United Nations in a country crippled by civil war since 1991.

The Foreign Ministry stated that the time had come for such a move, adding that determination and integrity are in need to conduct the electoral process in a fair and transparent manner.

Washington has warned it is incumbent on all presidential candidates to recognize the result and the winner and urged parliamentarians to form a government that works to improve the lives of the Somali people.
