French cartoons inflame Prophet film tensions, enhanced security measures in Lebanon

After publishing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in a French sarcastic magazine, the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said that Paris has taken "special security precautions" to protect its embassies in the world.        

The French Foreign Ministry stated that France will close its embassies and schools in 20 countries on Friday after publishing a cartoon of the Prophet.          


Meanwhile, protests linked to the amateurish movie continued across the world, from Thailand to Afghanistan and Pakistan, where protests were held outside American embassies, calling on the US government to apologize and to prosecute the producer of the film.
              
A day after Clinton said that her country is to take strict measures to protect its diplomatic delegations throughout the world; US President Barack Obama condemned the film, noting that the United States’ government has nothing to do with it, stressing that “this film is not an excuse for violence”.            

After less than a week on the deadly attack targeting the US embassy in Tunisia, leaving 4 people dead, the Tunisian Foreign Minister condemned the attack, stressing that “it will not happen again”.             

In turn, Russia warned against blocking YouTube website in the country to prevent the film from being watched.

In Lebanon, the Lebanese Army Forces enhanced security measures outside the French Embassy and the French Ambassador's residence.
