October War documents reveal Israel's arrogance
39 years after the October War's end, the Agranat Commission revealed documents pertaining to the Israeli military's performance and reasons for their defeat.

According to the Commission the reasons were listed as follows:

Military might and arrogance were the prevailing attitudes among Israel low and high ranking officials.

The 1973 war was considered "shocking" at the time, due to the sudden joint attack on the part of Syria and Egypt against Israel. Reports declare that the war wasn't surprising for Israel and could have been prevented.

Four days before the outbreak of the war, information was reported by Ashraf Marwan whom Israel considered as a double agent.

According to this document, information assured that Egypt will launch a war, but Mossad and Military Intelligence Leaderships treated the matter carelessly presuming that Arabs were incapable of leading a government, let alone a war.

One of the documents revealed that Egyptian intelligence had reached an important Israeli source and obtained a confidential document in Hebrew.

This document aided it in misleading Israel and assuring it that Egypt would not instigate a war against it. Meanwhile, a Syrian armored unit was approaching the Jewish state, but disregard was Israel's only response.

Israeli authorities mentioned that these documents will serve as a lesson from the past with mounting threats by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as well as the Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah against Israel, and this is what strengthens the position of warlords in the Jewish state present day.
