Davutoglu: Turkey will retaliate if border with Syria violated again

The Syrian observatory for human rights said on Saturday that 22 Syrian opposition fighters were injured on due to bombing while trying to break into the camp of Wadi Daif close to Maarat al Numan in Idlib.

According to a statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Damascus has expressed its willingness to form a security committee to communicate with Syria and Turkey when clashes arise on borders .

The statement mentioned that Syria has expressed its willingness to form a joint Syrian-Turkish security committee that aims at ensuring security on borders within the framework of respect for national sovereignty of both countries.


International Positions:

Akhdar Ibrahimi traveled to Istanbul from Saudi Arabia amid growing tensions between Syria and its northern neighbor Turkey.         

In this context, Davutoglu said on Saturday that Turkey will retaliate without hesitation if its border with Syria is violated again.

Turkey's armed forces have repeatedly responded in kind over the past few weeks to gunfire and shelling spilling across the border from Syria and have warned of a more forceful response if the violence is not contained.           

On Wednesday, Turkey intercepted a Syrian passenger plane en route from Moscow to Damascus and seized what it said was military equipment on board.                
Syria denounced the move as air piracy and Russia has said the cargo was radar parts that complied with international law.

For his part, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that “the United Nations should carry out internal reforms as it is unfair that five countries, permanent members of the UN Security Council, decide the fate of other countries.”

Erdogan was criticizing China and Russia’s support to Syria.

"The UN is losing its credibility by turning a blind eye to what is happening in Syria," Erdogan said.
