According to Agence France press the Syrian armed forces shot one person dead at the funeral of Kurdish opposition figure Mishaal al-Tammo killed on Friday night in Qamishli area in eastern Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that more than 50,000 Qamishli resident participated in the funeral which became a demonstration calling for the overthrow of Assad’s regime.

On the other hand, the White House described the situation in Syria as extremely worrying, calling on the President Bashar Assad to resign immediately.

The White House press secretary Jay Carney said that the United States strongly condemns the Syrian regime’s actions against the opposition, pointing out that the promises given by Assad for reforms were just lies.  

For its part, the French Government condemned the brutality of the Syrian army which has, according to French officials, crossed all the limits.
