Mortar shell targets Syrian Christian neighborhood of Bab Touma

A video footage taken by activists and posted on YouTube by the Observatory showed a car burning in the middle of the road in what appeared to be a residential neighborhood at the sight of pedestrians.  

In Damascus Reef, clashes erupted overnight between opposition fighters and regime troops in the city of Daraya and its outskirts. Regime troops have been trying to take control over this city over the past few weeks.        

The Observatory added that following clashes, heavy machinery and many vehicles belonging to the region’s regime troops withdrew towards Al-Mazzeh military airport near Daraya where gunfire was heard overnight.       

This as, the Syrian State TV denied reports claiming that Interior Minister Mohamad Shaar has passed away, stressing that he's health condition is ameliorating.  

International positions

Saudi and Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed their country’s support for a peaceful solution in Syria “but provided that it be determined by the Syrian people itself.”  

On another note, in a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Kamel Amr in Syria, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal said that a peaceful solution is an Arab and international requirement and desire, “but the conditions of such a solution are up to the Syrian people itself.”      

In turn, Amr considered that a peaceful solution is wanted and required “if it spares the country further bloodshed,” adding that in the end, it is up to Syrians to decide how to solve their problems and settle their situation.
