Clinton calls on Egyptian government to respect citizens’ rights

U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton voiced her concern over the violence that erupted in Egypt Sunday, killing 25 people.

“The Egyptian government must respect all of the Egyptians’ basic rights, including the right to religious freedom, the right to peaceful assembly; it should put an end to the civilians’ military trials, and exert assiduous efforts to address religious tensions”, Clinton told Egyptian Foreign Minister Kamel Amr.

Clinton added that the probe into all of the incidents should be “transparent and credible”.
