About seven mortar rounds landed in US embassy compound in Baghdad

A US military official told Reuters that approximately seven mortar shells landed in the compound of the US Embassy in Baghdad during an attack early on Friday, revealing that the attack was much larger than initially believed.

The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, left open the possibility that more projectiles were fired at the embassy compound but did not land within it.

The official stated that the attack caused minor damage with no reported injuries.
