Pro-Imran Khan candidates lead in Pakistan's elections

Proponents of the imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan are narrowly leading the results of the elections in Pakistan on Friday after counting more than half of the constituencies.

The preliminary official results in the legislative elections show independent candidates allied with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, led by Khan, securing 49 seats after counting votes in 136 constituencies out of a total of 266. In contrast, the Pakistan Muslim League and the Pakistan People's Party secured 42 and 34 seats, respectively.
