And so it continues: Syrians violate border and Lebanese call for protection

Calm is prevailing over the region of Dora located between Hermel and El Kaa following the infiltration of Syrian armored vehicles into Lebanese territories on Tuesday. The military operation saw exchanges of gunfire that killed Syrian citizen Ahmad Abu Jabal while Syrian citizen Ammar Abu Jabal and Lebanese citizen Maysar Abu Jabal were arrested.

When Ahmad Abu Jabal entered Lebanese territory residents tried to transfer him to a near-by hospital, however their attempt failed under heavy fire. Abu Jabal soon died, succumbing to his wounds.

The residents said that Syrian forces raided Lebanese houses while conducting a manhunt, calling on the Lebanese authorities to deploy troops in the region.

Security sources told LBCI that armed confrontations took place Tuesday on the Syrian side of the village of Dora killing eight people. Intermittent gunfire was heard on the Syrian side of the village. The Syrian forces set ablaze an oil tank and several cars in the border region of Al Salhiya.
