This is Ahmed Shibani, the man who shot Colonel Muammar Gaddafi twice using the golden gun Gaddafi was holding when caught alive. 18 year old Ahmed Shibani appeared on TV holding the golden gun and proud of what he did. After pulling the trigger, Libyan rebels and citizens carried the hero on their shoulders amid “Allahu Akbar” chants.    

Rebels had controlled most of the city of Sirte, compelling Gaddafi to flee. He left a residential complex in a convoy of 80-four-wheel drive vehicles in an attempt to head to the West.    

The convoy’s size caught the eye of the French Mirage jets that fired a warning shot to prevent the column from proceeding, 30 km away from the city. At that same moment, Libyan fighters intervened, destroying the vehicles and clashing with Gaddafi’s loyalists with him in the convoy. Some of them were killed while others fled, including Gaddafi.
