Ahmadinejad praises US withdrawal from Iraq

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told CNN television that Iran slams the massacres and the bloodshed in Syria, whether the victims are members of the security forces or affiliated to the opposition.

The interview was filmed by the American television station in Persian and later broadcasted by the Iranian TV and live streamed online.

"Obama’s announcement of a full U.S. withdrawal from Iraq by the end of this year is a positive move; however, should the withdrawal taken place seven or eight years earlier, the Iraqi and U.S. victims would have been fewer," he added.

In his concluding remarks, the Iranian president said that the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq will induce changes in Tehran-Baghdad ties.
