Saudis await nomination of new Crown Prince after mourning ends

For the second day in a row, grievers came from all around the world to convey their condolences for the death of Saudi Crown Prince Sutlan bin Abdul Aziz in Riyadh.    

Wednesday witnessed the participation of Arab, foreign and Muslim leaderships as well as delegation representing well over 100 countries. All came to Saudi Arabia to express their deepest remorse to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz and to senior Saudi officials.    

The King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Jordan Abdullah II, United Arab Emirates Deputy President Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashed al-Maktoum and other Arab delegations presented their condolences to the second Deputy PM and Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz. Prince Nayef said that Crown Prince Sultan was loved and appreciated by all people.    

Meanwhile, the Saudis are expecting the nomination of a new Crown prince through the Allegiance Council established by King Abdullah. The nomination will take place after mourning ends Thursday night. The Allegiance council includes a representative for each of the branches of the Royal Family and guarantees a smooth power transition.
