ICRC halts staff movement in Afghanistan

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Friday that it will be halting all its staff movement in Afghanistan and will be closing its office after an attack on its guesthouse in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad.

The ICRC said one of its guards was killed and an international staff member was lightly wounded in the attack.

Local security forces rescued seven international ICRC staff members from the guesthouse after a two-hour-long gun battle with insurgents.
