Yemeni army kills 2 Local al-Qaeda leaders

The state news agency Saba reported on Thursday that the Yemeni army killed two local al-Qaeda leaders who were plotting assaults against vital locations in Yemen.

The news agency quoted an army spokesman as saying that an army operation was carried out on Wednesday in the province of Marib that left "two dangerous al-Qaeda leaders dead."

The local media identified the killed al-Qaeda leaders as Anwar al-Sanaani and Moammar al-Nasheri, adding that troops arrested a third al-Qaeda member after he was wounded during the operation."

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), based in Yemen, is being labeled by the United States as "the most dangerous branch of the global extremist network."
