US threatens to impose new sanctions against Iran

The U.S. warned against increased tensions on Iran and threatened to impose new sanctions. The warning came as a reaction to the statement issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) saying that Teheran worked on developing sensitive technologies that will pave the way for acquiring nuclear weapons.

A U.S. official urged Iranian authorities to answer the questions raised by the IAEA’s report, adding that Washington will discuss with its partners the possibility of imposing further sanctions and restrictions against the Iranian government.
