Salafist cleric al Shahhal to LBCI: Today’s sit-in suspended pending developments

Salafist cleric Dai al-Islam al Shahhal told LBCI on Friday that today's sit-in that was scheduled to be held in Lebanon’s northern city of Tripoli was suspended pending developments.

“There is no need to hold further sit-ins since the aim of protests has been achieved now,” he added.

In a phone call with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV Show, al Shahhal said he was surprised by "provocations carried out by the army against residents of Tripoli’s Bab al-Tabbaneh".

He also accused the army of biased actions against Salafists in Tripoli, noting that some security members and officers are breaching the law.
