REPORT: Assad says war against terrorism must be declared at Geneva II

          
Syrian President Bashar Assad declared Monday that there is a significant chance he will seek  new term as president, ruling out the possibility of approving the appointment of a head for the transitional government from the opposition "for lacking representative character".                          

In an exclusive interview with Agence France Presse, Assad that the battle to topple the Syrian government has failed, stressing that the most important decision expected to be issued by the Geneva 2 conference is fighting against terrorism.          

The Syrian president said that losing the war will cause chaos across the Middle East, accusing France of being a proxy for Saudi Arabia and Qatar.            

On another note, Assad said that the course of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon tasked with the case of former Lebanese PM Rafiq Hariri’s assassination is politicized and aims at exerting pressure on Hezbollah.
