REPORT: Geagea: Even Patriarch Rai was unable to convince MP Aoun to facilitate presidential elections
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea hailed on Tuesday the return of former Prime Minister MP Saad Hariri to Lebanon, saying that it will have a positive impact on both the Sunnite and national scene.

In a chat with reporters, Geagea noted that Hariri will not be able to convince Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun with facilitating the presidential elections, adding that even Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai was not able to do so.

Geagea also stressed that the other camp [March 8] is imposing Aoun's election, adding that the rival party is not allowing the March 14 alliance to find any other option to end the deadlock.

Speaker Nabih Berri deferred on Tuesday the session tasked to elect a new president until September 2 for lack of required quorum.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum after Michel Sleiman's mandate ended on May 25 with rival political blocs still divided over a new leader.

Prior to today's session, nine electoral sessions were held, but parliament has failed so far to elect a new head of state due to lack of quorum.
