Nasrallah denies living in a refuge, says Gaza war delayed Israeli attack against Lebanon

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah stressed that during Israel’s July 2006 war against Lebanon, the transfer of weapons from Syria was not halted, noting that the means of transportation remained available, despite the fact that Israelis were targeting almost all the border crossings.

“The war was expected to develop and reach Syria, since Israel held it accountable for assisting Hezbollah,” he said, explaining that the ground operation based on which Syria would have been attacked was not carried out.

In an interview with al-Akhbar daily, Nasrallah pointed out that the Israel-Gaza conflict of 2014 has delayed any Israeli attack against Lebanon.

Asked about revenge for Imad Mughniyeh, a leading Hezbollah figure who was assassinated in 2008, the Hezbollah chief said that the Shiite party will avenge Mughniyeh by enhancing and developing its capabilities in order to confront all attacks and achieve additional victories.

On his daily life, Nasrallah said that he does not live in a shelter, stressing that the tight security measures aim at keeping his movements confidential.

He added that he is aware of all movements and developments in Beirut’s southern suburbs, as well as in South Lebanon and the Bekaa region.

In his statement to the daily published on Wednesday, Nasrallah noted that there are “no red lines” in the “security war” against Israel, stating that Hamas was not serious in its call on Hezbollah for assistance in the Gaza Strip.

As for the regional developments, Nasrallah said: “What we have prepared for Israel was not affected by our actions in Syria."
