PM Salam: Lebanon weighed down by burden of Syrian refugees

Prime Minister Tammam Salam called for easing internal tension, noting that the only way to achieve a normal political life is by ending the state of presidential vacuum through the election of a president the soonest possible.

In a speech he delivered during the Annual Arab Banking Conference held at Phoenicia hotel, Salam said that the stability of the banking sector in Lebanon cannot last forever amid the current regional troubles and internal tension.

On another note, the PM said that the rise of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has taken a toll on the country.

“Lebanon is paying a high price for hosting Syrian refugees,” he added, urging banks in Lebanon and the Arab nations to help the Lebanese government in this regard.
