REPORT: Protests in Sidon after Assir’s arrest as wife declares open-ended sit-in until his release

Dozens of women loyal to Ahmad Assir gathered at the northern entrance of the southern city of Sidon and chanted slogans supporting Assir and demanding his release, while his wife declared an open-ended sit-in until his release.

The movement, which causes a massive traffic jam, came after the arrest of hardline cleric Ahmad Assir at Beirut International Airport as he was attempting to flee the country.
