Member of the Future bloc, MP Jamal al-Jarrah stressed Friday that the process of cancelling the elections and resorting to the appointment of the Free Patriotic Movement new leadership, was clear and predicted from the beginning.
In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, al-Jarrah said that, by this move, the FPM aborted the democratic process it proposed.
Commenting on the decision to extend the mandates of the security leaders, the deputy noted that this extension is stipulated in the defense law, and is adopted in order to prevent vacuum in the military institutions.
He added that the Future Movement does not oppose the appointment of Lebanese Armed Forces Commando Regiment chief Gen. Shamel Roukoz as LAF commander, as long as it is done after the election of a new president.
“MP Michel Aoun wants all his demands to be met, without facilitating any task,” he said.
