REPORT: Al-Akhbar journalist Mohammad Zbib appears before Public Prosecution
The editor in chief of Al-Akhbar newspaper business page, Mohammad Zbib appeared Thursday before the Public Prosecution, in the case filed by Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq against him on charges of libel and slander.

The lawsuit comes after Zbib published a photo of a check issued by al-Madina Bank to al-Mashnouq in 2002.

However, the minister’s attorney Carlos Abou Jaoudeh had declared that the lawsuit’s objective is to reveal how Zbib obtained the leaked document. In the same context, activists called for gathering outside the Palace of Justice in order to defend the freedom of press.
