Names of 5 Lebanese victims of Talkalakh ambush revealed

     
The names of the five Lebanese men who were subject to an ambush in the Syrian town of Talkalakh a few days ago were revealed. PM Najib Mikati and the Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour conducted several calls regarding the case, while information disclosed by the Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that  Syrian authorities will deliver the bodies of the Lebanese nationals on humanitarian grounds.     

The Lebanese nationals were identified as follows: 23-year-old Malek al-Hajj Dib, senior university student from the Lebanese University in Qobba, Tripoli; his cousin 18-year-old Abdel Karim Ibrahim, both from Akkar; 22-year-old Abdel Rahman al-Hassan from Akkar; 26-year-old Youssef Abou Arida from Akkar and 22-year-old Bilal Khodr al-Ghoul from Donniyeh.     

The Imam of al-Nour Mosque in al-Mankoubin region stressed that the relatives of the victims and the residents of Bab al-Tebbaneh will hold a meeting to devise the next steps and the appropriate decisions regarding the information spread regarding efforts deployed to deliver the bodies of the victims and to reveal the fate of the others.

The Imam hoped that solutions will be reached in order to save the city from potential negative repercussions resulting from the case.

On the 30th of November 2012, reports emerged saying that a number of Lebanese nationals died in a Syrian ambush in the bordering town of Talkalakh.            

A security source added that these "militants" were fighting alongside the Syrian opposition forces.

Families of the dead and missing have been protesting in Tripoli, demanding that the Lebanese government return the bodies and determine the whereabouts of those missing.
