Exclusive LBCI: Photos of LAF members, victims of Arsal ambush

LBCI received the photos of Captain Pierre Bashalany, Sergeant Ibrahim Zahraman and LAF members who fell victim to the Arsal ambush. The photos were taken inside the building of the Arsal municipality and clearly depict the military personnel dressed in military attire contrary to allegations made on the part of the assailants in justification of the attacks.    

In this regard, military sources said that the time span of the ambush was short and swift as per military custom, stressing that while it was not a full scale military campaign, it was accurate and confidential.          

The same sources told LBCI that even members of the LAF’s Directorate of Intelligence carry out operations wearing military uniforms. “The LAF does not need permission to enter any Lebanese region,” they said, adding that the members of the Arsal patrol introduced themselves on the onset of the operation  adding that those who took them to the municipality building saw that they were wearing military uniforms and were driving military vehicles.   

On Friday, a Lebanese army patrol was attacked by unidentified gunmen in Arsal. Major Pierre Bachaalany and First Sergeant Ibrahim Zahraman were killed during the attack, while several other soldiers were wounded.

A video surfaced on Monday evening depicting the final moments of the LAF members before they were dragged into the municipality building in Arsal.
