What Feminism Is Really About And Why We Don’t Need It

Fadila, a Lebanese mother of three young girls will be featured on tonight’s Ahmar Bel Khat Al Areed on LBCI. She was ostracized by her family and community after news of the abuse of her daughters was revealed.

Fadila who admits ignorance when it comes to her rights as a woman and the rights of her children by law, pleads for justice against a man who allegedly raped one of her daughters, 15 years of age, while sparing no effort to photograph her two younger sisters in the nude in a show of his achievements.

But here we are in a country that continues to fail women and seeing how this news dies a few days after its “birth”, I say it’s time we accept what feminism is all about and why we don’t need it.

The author of this article wishes to point out, in case it was not already embarrassingly, ridiculously obvious, that the opinions expressed above are a cynical take at the deplorable state of affairs in Lebanon when it comes to women's rights, domestic violence and reactions to feminism.
