March 14 forces declare memo content from Parliament

The head of the Future bloc MP Fouad Siniora declared on Tuesday that the March 14 forces have the right to present a memorandum to President Michel Sleiman, noting that the danger threatening Lebanon has now reached an all time high.

While reading the memo’s content at Parliament, Siniora highlighted the two main articles, one concerning the Syrian violations which according to the forces prove the Syrian regime’s goal in expanding its war into the Lebanese borders, and another pertaining to Hezbollah’s weapons.

According to the memo, Siniora urged President Sleiman to call on Hezbollah to immediately withdraw its fighters from Syria, “where its intervention is deemed unconstitutional and unlawful," demanding the deployment of the Lebanese Armed Forces along the borders.

The head of the Future bloc also called on the international forces to help control the situation at the border, in order to facilitate the task of the Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam in forming a new cabinet which will adopt neutral stances that serve the country's national interest.

George Adwan:

For his part, Lebanese Forces MP George Adwan stressed that Hezbollah’s weapons are the main issue faced by the Lebanese people.

“March 14 forces have one weapon, that of the firm position; and we will never be dragged into strife,” Adwan added.

He noted that the main concern of the Lebanese is to dissociate Lebanon from regional conflicts in accordance with the Baabda Declaration, pointing out that March 14 seeks a “rescue cabinet.”

Boutros Harb:

In turn, MP Boutros Harb stressed that President Michel Sleiman had a positive reaction to the general content of the memo.
