ADP head Ali Eid will not attend interrogation session

Sources close to the leader of the Arab Democratic Party Ali Eid told LBCI that the latter did not appear Tuesday before the military court for an interrogation session in the case of the Tripoli twin blasts attack.

In this context, Ali Eid’s defense attorney presented a report to the First Military Investigation Magistrate Riad Abou Ghaida, whereby she said that Eid will not be able to attend the interrogation session due to health issues.

The attorney also presented a preliminary motion before Judge Abou Ghaida, a request to release Ahamd al-Ali and to end search and investigation operations against her client.

On Thursday November 7, the First Military Investigation Magistrate Riad Abou Ghaida summoned the head of the Arab Democratic Party former MP Ali Eid for an investigation session in the case of the Tripoli twin blasts. This as Judge Abou Ghaida issued an arrest warrant against Eid’s driver Ahmad al-Ali.

The Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau had also summoned in late October Eid for interrogations over his alleged involvement in the August twin bombings, but he refused to attend the sessions.

On Friday the 23rd of August, two explosions rocked the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli near the al-Taqwa and al-Salam mosques, leaving 45 killed and almost 500 others injured. The al-Taqwa mosque is where hardline Salafist Sheikh Salem Rafei preaches. He has been known for his anti-Syrian regime sentiment.

The blasts came amid rising tension in Lebanon resulting from Syria's civil war, which has sharply polarized the country along sectarian lines and between supporters and opponents of the regime of President Bashar Assad.
