Death toll of second Hermel attack continues to rise

Citizen Mohammad Ahmad al-Jawhari died Thursday of sounds he had sustained the in explosion that targeted the town of Hermel on Saturday.

On the 1st of February, an explosion rocked the Bekaa town of Hermel at a petrol station near the al-Mabarrat school at the town’s entrance, leaving several killed. The attack was said to have been carried out by a suicide bomber.

Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon claimed responsibility for the attack. This is the second citizen of its kind to occur in the town, also known for its strong backing of Hezbollah.

The first explosion took place on January 16, killing at least one upon impact, and two who later succumbed to their wounds.

Attacks against Hezbollah strongholds in the country have been on the rise since the group openly declared it was fighting alongside regime forces in Syria's war.

Lebanon has been sharply divided as a result of the violence in the neighboring country between those who support the uprising against Syrian president Bachar Assad and those who oppose it.
