Jumblatt: Al Qaeda elastic excuse used at any time

Head of National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt condemned on Monday the two terrorist attacks that rocked Damascus. In his weekly column in Al- Anbaa newspaper, Jumblatt endorsed a political solution for Syria and called for beefing up coordination between Lebanese security apparatuses.   

 “In light of Syrian obstinacy in implementing a security solution rather than a political one, which alone is capable of getting Syria out of its crisis, these events are not supposed to become a pretext to prevent the Arab monitoring mission from visiting all Syrian cities with no exception”, Jumblatt said. 

“It would have been better if officials had the least sense of wisdom, logic and prudence in tackling delicate security issues as was the case for the elastic excuse of Al Qaeda that is being stretched out for use at any time and by anyone”, Jumblatt added.

Jumblatt announced that issues cannot be settled through political and media declarations, rather through boosting security cooperation. Jumblatt warned against any uncalled-for security incidents in light of this critical period that the region is passing through.

“This new reality calls for a new approach that should be adopted by different bodies to secure stability in Lebanon and prevent the country from getting lost in a security maze”,  Jumblatt stressed.
