Kanaan: Old age insurance law sent to general committee
Head of the Finance and Budget Parliamentary Committee MP Ibrahim Kanaan told "Sawat al Mada" that his committee has approved 57 draft laws in various fields such as salary packages for teachers, employees and judges in civil and public services.

"We (the committee) have created new criterion for a supervisory apparatus and have managed to control waste and squandering. These achievements prompted the International Monetary Fund, European Union and EU auditing bureau to provide financial and moral support to the parliament to finance the creation of a consultative committee. The annual grant is estimated at 500,000 euro," the MP explained.

He described these achievements as a landmark in the history of all parliamentary committees, adding that this was the first time since the independence of the country that the committee made such progress in many files.

Kanaan stressed that the most important achievement by the committee was the completion of the old age insurance coverage law for senior citizens.
