Protest in front of Interior ministry calls for women’s nationality rights
“My Nationality, a Right for Me and My Family” campaign staged a protest on Thursday outside the Interior Ministry in Sanaeh in condemnation of the recent draft law passed that allows the reinstatement of one’s Lebanese nationality for those with Lebanese fathers or grandfathers. This new law baldly reaffirms Lebanese women’s inability to pass on their citizenship to their children.

The protesters addressed Interior Minister Marwan Charbel ask him “Is the blood link the preserve of men?”

The protesters called for the right of all Lebanese to obtain their nationality since it is an “acquired right”.
