Generator owners in Zahle urge Bassil to go back on his decision
The committee of private generator owners in Zahle announced its rejection of the decision taken by Energy Minister Gebran Bassil to set the generator subscription fee for December at 400 LBP per hour. The committee described the fee as “unjust” and called on Bassil to go back on his decision.

During a press conference, the committee called on the Energy Minister to provide citizens with electricity away from political patronage and quotas, instead of wasting his time setting generator fees.

The committee’s spokesman Tony Mina said that generator owners would take the full fee that they are owed even if it means being fined.

Mina suggested that municipalities be put in charge of operating the private generators for a fixed fee to the owners, adding that private generators in Zahle provided electricity to subscribers for 400 hours in December.
