Mikati calls to keep wages issue away from politics
Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Monday rekindled his holding onto the Baabda-brokered agreement between the Economic Committees and the General Labor Confederation on wages adjustment.

The Prime Minister did not fail to highlight the obligation to keep the much heated salaries dossier away from political polarizations, hoping a solution satisfactory to both grassroots and employers would be reached in the nearest time possible.

Delegations of the Economic Committees and the GLC had been to the Grand Serail today only to reaffirm the aforementioned Baabda agreement, two weeks after the cabinet voted for Labor Minister Charbel Nahhas's salaries increase package, later rejected by the State Shura Council.

Mikati said preparations were still underway for a socio-economic conference at the Grand Serail to venture into the details of a joint work memorandum with a view to bringing it into effect under the sponsorship of the state and the government.
