Higher Defense Committee hears Ghosn

The Higher Defense Committee and the Interior Ministry held a meeting at the parliament headed by MP Samir al-Jisr, to hear what Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn has to say about his latest statements on the presence of al-Qaeda militants in the Lebanese town of Arsal.

Following the Defense Committee’s session, Jisr said that Ghosn did not mean the town of Arsal, but the border with Syria. “He did not say that Arsal sheltered terrorist or that his source of information was the LAF; the person who was prosecuted was wanted by the international community.”

“Ghosn said that he heads the Ministry of Defense and reads all the reports; the Interior Ministry asks for details and the LAF cooperates with the security bodies”, Jisr added.
