Geagea: Situation in Syria cannot remain unchanged

Lebanese Forces Leader Samir Geagea commented on Syrian President Bashar Assad’s speech on Tuesday.

“The speech has demagogic dimensions,” he said, adding that “among Assad’s new fallacies is the confusion between Syria and the Syrian people on the one hand, and the regime on the other hand.”

Geagea wished that Assad had gone into the details of the crisis and presented a new roadmap out of the current crisis.

Geagea stressed during a press conference that the current situation in Syria cannot remain unchanged, adding that “I don’t understand what are these conspiracies that Assad talks about while hundreds of thousands of Syrians are taking it to the streets?”

Geagea wished that the Syrian president had called for a popular referendum under the U.N. supervision to see who supports his survival as president and who does not.
