Houri to LBCI: Assad speech a pep talk
Future Movement MP Ammar Houri described the recent speech of Syrian President Bashar Assad as “a pep talk”, adding that his speech “did not present anything new; it rather endorsed the security grip and violent solution.”
Houri told Nharkom Said TV show that if the presented reformist solutions were applied since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, Assad would have spared the Syrian people lots of trouble.

Houri stressed that the Future Movement sides with the Syrian people but is not concerned with the timing of the fall of the Syrian regime, adding “declarations that we are betting on the fall of the Assad regime are incorrect.”

Houri stressed that any development in Syria towards democracy and plurality will reflect positively on Lebanon.
