Rai: Only state institutions can carry arms
Maronite Patriarch Bshara Rai held Sunday mass at Bkerke where he demanded neutralizing Lebanon and restricting arms to state control. Fast evolving events in neighboring Arab countries caused much concern domestically, in fear of repercussions on internal Lebanese politics.

"Lebanon, with its positive neutrality, commits to Arab causes, peace and international legitimacy," said the Patriarch. On that note, he urged the limiting of use of weapons to legitimate state institutions.

Rai condemned all aggressive tense rhetoric, regardless of its source.
